Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program

The mission of Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) is to create and support a sustainable career pathway that prepares a diverse workforce of talented students to make immediate and significant contributions to the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). To achieve this mission, MSIPP develops strategic partnerships between Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and the NSE, investing in student enrichment programs, curriculum development, research efforts, and internship opportunities. MSIPP aligns investments in university capacity and workforce development with the NNSA mission to develop the needed skills and talent for the NSE’s enduring technical workforce while enhancing research and educational capacity at underrepresented colleges and universities.”

This alignment is defined by the following goals:
  • Strengthen and expand minority and tribal serving institutions’ educational and/or research capacity in NNSA mission areas of interest.
  • Target collaborations between minority and tribal serving institution’s and the (NSE) that increase interactions to provide minority and tribal serving institution’s direct access to NSE resources.
  • Increase the number of MSI students who graduate with STEM degrees relevant to NNSA mission areas and who have had exposure to career opportunities within the NSE.
  • Increase the number of minority graduates and post-doctoral students hired into the NSE’s technical and scientific workforce.
